Cates – a car-train accident here Monday which fatally injured Mrs. Gail Tarr Owens, 43, claimed the life Tuesday of her husband, Rev. David Arthur Owens, 47, pastor of two churches in southern Fountain County. Rev. Owens died Tuesday in St. Elizabeth hospital, Danville, Ill where he was taken after suffering shock and injuries in the accident. The Owens car was struck at the crossing here by a Nickel Plate railroad work train northbound from Cayuga to Frankfort. The pastor’s home is near the crossing. The couple had been making pastoral calls for about two hours and were returning home when the accident occurred. According to State Trooper Ivan Finch and Fountain County Sheriff George Keller, who investigated the fatal crash, the Owens car slowed on approaching the crossing but did not stop. There are no flasher signals at the crossing. Mrs. Owens died almost instantly after the car rolled over - kbz
